100 Days of Monsters
An exploration in creating 100 monsters in 100 days.
Creating a hundred monsters is not an easy task as each monster is unique; each has its own personality and its own idiosyncrasies that need to be brought onto the page, and there lies the challenge. Some monsters are a bit reluctant to be born while others come to life without the slightest hesitation. It's a process of discovery and patience.
The illustration process starts, as most of mine do, with drawing or painting shapes and out of those rough marks a monster emerges; a bit like Frankenstein. The idea is born. The shapes dictate the character and lead me in a direction I could not have imagined beforehand.
